What a proper installation involves
Every installation starts underground, with the soil. Florida sand drains fast, but the water table in much of Polk County sits high, and that combination decides what kind of system your lot can legally carry. Before anything is dug, the state requires a site evaluation and a soil test. We schedule those, walk the evaluator through the property, and handle the application with the Florida Department of Health in Polk County so the permit lands without you chasing paperwork.
Then comes the part most homeowners never see and live with the longest. The hole has to be cut clean and to grade. The tank has to be set dead level on stable bedding, because a tank that settles crooked will hold sludge in the wrong corner for the rest of its life. Inlet and outlet lines need the right fall, the distribution box has to split flow evenly, and the drain field needs to be laid in soil that has not been compacted by machines driving over it. Jacob runs the excavator himself, sets the tank himself, and checks every elevation himself. There is no crew of subcontractors to manage and no version of this where the owner finds out later what got skipped.
We install complete conventional systems and mound systems for new construction, and we replace failed tanks and fields on existing homes. Because the company also does site preparation and land grading, the same machine that digs your system can shape the lot around it. A word on materials, because they are not all equal. We set concrete tanks from established Florida precast yards, with the joints sealed and the lids fitted right, and we plumb them in schedule-rated pipe rather than the thin-wall stuff that crushes under a settling trench. Risers come standard on our installations so every future pump-out and inspection happens at grade level instead of under eighteen inches of lawn. None of that shows up in a drive-by quote comparison, and all of it shows up over the next two decades of owning the system.

Dig, set, restore
Most residential installations take one to three days in the ground. The tank is set level, inspected, covered, and the yard is graded back smooth.
Built for Polk County ground
Septic rules are written statewide, but the ground is local. The Lakeland Ridge runs deep sand that percolates almost too fast, while pockets near the Green Swamp and the phosphate lands south of Mulberry hold water close to the surface. The difference changes tank placement, drain field sizing, and whether your lot needs a mound system.

How much does a new septic system cost in Lakeland?
Tank size, soil and lot access set the number, and mound systems run higher because of the engineered fill they require. That is why Jacob walks the site and gives a firm written price instead of a guess over the phone, and why the written number does not grow once the dig starts.
How long does the whole process take, start to finish?
The dig itself takes one to three days. The site evaluation, soil test and Polk County health department permit typically add two to four weeks before that. We start the paperwork the week you say go.
Do I need a mound system or a conventional one?
The soil test decides, not the contractor. If the seasonal high water table sits too close to the surface, the state requires the drain field to be raised in a mound of clean fill. Plenty of Polk County lots qualify for conventional systems; low areas near wetlands often do not.
What size septic tank does my house need?
Florida sizes tanks by bedroom count. A three-bedroom home generally needs a 900 to 1,050 gallon tank, and a fourth bedroom pushes it up from there. Jacob sizes for the house you might build onto, not just the one standing today.
Will the installation wreck my yard?
The work area gets dug up, there is no way around that. The difference is what happens after. We grade the disturbed ground smooth, feather it into the rest of the lawn, and leave it ready for seed or sod. Customers regularly tell us the yard looked better after the job than before it.
Can you handle the septic for a new home build?
Yes, and it pairs well with our site prep work. We can clear the lot, cut the pad, put in the driveway and install the system on one schedule, which saves you weeks of waiting between separate contractors.
Who handles the health department inspection?
We do. The system gets inspected by the Polk County health department before it is covered, and Jacob schedules that inspection, meets the inspector on site and stands behind the work in person. You are never the one coordinating between a contractor and the county.
